by Josh McCrohon @JoshMcCrohon57Before we begin, I’d just like to apologise that there wasn’t a UFC 219 review, I simply didn’t have the time. Therefore, there will be a great UFC 220 review as soon as possible. This Saturday, UFC will have their first PPV event of the year and it’s a big one! There isn’t simply one title match on the card….there are 2! One being the Light Heavyweight Championahip and the main event being for the Heavyweight Championship. Before all that though, let’s get into the prelims. My PredictionsThoughts on the UndercardDan Ige vs. Julio Arce: This is how you kick off the undercard, a fight like this is sure to get people talking. It will definitely be interesting to see who walks always with the win -if they can walk after this brawl at all! The the last prelim I’m going to talk about is Bochniak vs. Davis - despite this being only my second thought on the undercard. My reason for this is because I don’t really watch the prelims and therefore can only name a select few - but this is another fight to look out for, I dark horse for a surprise match! Main CardMatch #1 - Thomas Almeida vs. Rob FontIf there’s a way to start a card and pique people’s interest, this is a great way to do so. The Bantamweight division is certainly heating up and this is an example of that. Font lost his last fight back in October whereas Almeida lost his last fight back in July. This is a tough one to predict but I’ve made my choice. My Prediction: Rob Font (Round 2; Submission) Match #2 - Gian Villante vs. Franicmar BarrosoVillante lost his last fight to Patrick Cummins and Barroso isn’t an easy task. However if anybody can beat Barroso it’s Villante ... and Rakić (the man who recently defeated Barroso). Just like the last fight, this one is also hard to predict. My Prediction: Franicmar Barroso (Round 3; Decision) Match #3 - Calvin Kattar vs. Shane BurgosThis will be the 3rd bout on the card and Shane Burgos is currently undefeated and is coming off a great 2017. However, Kattar is no push-over, in fact he’s far from that. Despite not being a push over, Burgos is most definitely the man who’s going to do the pushing. My Prediction: Shane Burgos (Round 2; TKO) Match #4 - Daniel Cormier (c) vs. Volkan Oezedmir |
