by Josh McCrohon @JoshMcCrohon57My Thoughts2017 has been a great year for the UFC and has had many pay-per view events which included some shock victories and some shock upsets. However, the year isn’t over yet and the UFC has one more PPV to go, UFC 219. The card looks really solid which we’re about to break down in a minute in my predictions. I’m not going to make predictions for the prelims, only the main card. Don’t worry though because I will be talking about the prelims. As I was saying, this card will be great and a brilliant way to close a fantastic year for the MMA organisation. My PredictionsThoughts on the UndercardThe undercard itself is looking good with some fascinating match-ups. The UFC Fight Pass features a fight in the UFC Batamweight Division between Mark De La Rosa and Tim Elliot. Rick Glenn vs. Myles Jury will be a fun one to look out for whilst the main event of the prelims is Michał Oleksiejczuk vs. Khalil Rountree which is in the Light Heavyweight division. A win for either guy could really boost them in the rankings by a mile and stand them in good stead going forwards! Match #1 - Neil Magny vs. Carlos ConditThe first fight scheduled for this stacked card is in the Welterweight division between Neil Magny taking on Carlos Condit to kick off UFC 219. This will be a good fight and an explosive opener to the last PPV of the year. My Prediction: Neil Magny (Round 2, TKO) Match #2 - Cynthia Calvillo vs. Carla EsparzaThe next match on the show is in the women’s Strawweight division where the title is currently held by Rose Namajunas. This fight features 2 of the best women fighters the Strawweight division can offer, one is Carla Esparza and the other is Cynthia Calvillo. This one should be a battle, and a battle it’s going to be. My Prediction: Carla Esparza (Round 3, Unanimous Decision) Match #3 - Dan Hooker vs. Marc DiakieseLightweight action is next with Dan Hooker fighting Marc Diakiese in a brutal fight. This is one I’m very much excited for. A dark horse of a match that nobody is really talking about this fight but this will be a fantastic, brutal encounter. My Prediction: Dan Hooker (Round 3, Submission) Match #4 - Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Edson BarbozaThe fourth fight is another Lightweight bout and is between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Edson Barboza. From my understanding, Barboza is 4th in the Lightweight rankings and Khabib currently sits in second. Who’s first? The interim champ, Tony Ferguson. Khabib is 8-0 in the UFC and I think this is going to be his 9th victory without reply...watch out Ferguson! My Prediction: Khabib (Round 2, TKO) Match #5 - Cris Cyborg vs. Holly Holm |
